2 Days
Basic Occupational First Aid
A foundational programme designed for workplaces requiring basic first aid coverage, covering essential wound care, bleeding control, burn management, and recognition of common medical conditions. Suitable for lower-risk work environments and general office settings.
1 Day
Refresher First Aid Training
Periodic refresher training for previously certified first aiders to renew their skills, update their knowledge, and maintain their certification. Recommended at regular intervals to ensure competency is retained.
4 Days
Industry-Specific First Aid
Tailored first aid training incorporating hazard scenarios specific to your industry, such as chemical burns and exposure incidents for manufacturing and chemical facilities, or height and trauma response for construction sites.
Course Details
Overview
Our core first aid programme is designed and delivered in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health (First Aid) Regulations 2004 and DOSH Guidelines on First Aid in the Workplace. It covers essential life-saving skills including CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, wound management, fracture and sprain management, shock treatment, and response to common workplace medical emergencies. Suitable for designated workplace first aiders across all industries.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this programme, participants will be able to:
- Understand the roles, responsibilities, and legal duties of a designated workplace first aider
- Assess an emergency scene safely and summon appropriate assistance
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and operate an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Manage an unconscious, unresponsive, or breathing-compromised casualty
- Control bleeding and manage wounds, burns, and scalds
- Recognise and respond to shock, fractures, dislocations, and sprains
- Identify and respond to common medical emergencies including heart attack, stroke, seizure, and diabetic emergencies
- Manage chemical exposure incidents and eye injuries relevant to the workplace
- Document and report first aid incidents in accordance with workplace procedures
Theory Session
The theory component covers the foundational knowledge required for competent first aid practice, including the legal framework governing workplace first aid in Malaysia.
Practical Session
The practical component is conducted under direct supervision of our qualified instructors, with each participant required to demonstrate competency in core first aid skills using training manikins, simulation equipment, and scenario-based exercises.
Practical skills assessed include the following.
- CPR and AED — Adult, child, and infant CPR with correct rate, depth, and technique; AED pad placement and operation
- Airway Management — Head-tilt chin-lift, jaw thrust, recovery position, choking response
- Wound Management — Direct pressure, wound dressing, roller bandaging, triangular bandage application
- Burns Management — Correct cooling technique, dressing application, chemical burn decontamination
- Fracture Management — Limb immobilisation, splinting, sling application
- Scenario-Based Assessment — Participants respond to simulated workplace emergency scenarios requiring them to apply multiple first aid skills in sequence, demonstrating decision-making and prioritisation under pressure
Assessment
Participants are required to sit for and pass both components of the assessment:
- Theory Examination — Written paper testing knowledge across all course modules
- Practical Assessment — Observed skills demonstration assessed against DOSH-aligned competency criteria
A minimum passng mark is required for both components. Participants who do not meet the required standard will be advised on reassessment options. 100% attendance in both theory and practical sessions is a mandatory prerequisite for sitting the assessment.
Certification and Records
Upon successful completion of our first aid programme, participants receive two forms of certification:
Certificate of Proficiency
Issued in accordance with DOSH Guidelines (Section 1.5), valid for three years from the date of examination.
First Aider Card
A practical wallet-sized reference confirming the holder's status as a trained workplace first aider.
To qualify for assessment, participants must achieve 100% attendance in both theoretical and practical sessions. Assessment comprises both a theory examination and a practical assessment, and successful completion of both is required for certification to be awarded.
Training records are maintained by both the employer and SEES for a minimum of five years in accordance with DOSH Guidelines (Section 4.5.2), supporting your compliance documentation in the event of a DOSH inspection or audit.
